The imposing Republic Hall has been constructed in place of what was once the Main Courtyard of the Sacra Infermeria. At 728 square metres, it is Malta’s largest auditorium and is tastefully roofed over. With a seating capacity of 1,400, this elegant theatre-style hall is the largest in the Mediterranean Conference Centre. It is ideal for large scale meetings or conferences and is equipped with theatre lighting and sound systems, audio/visual facilities, as well as simultaneous interpretation facilities for up to six languages. If required, all the 408 seats in the stalls area may be removed to either extend the stage or accommodate guests on round tables or standing up.
In this hall historical architecture and modern technology blend to perfection. The deep red theatre curtain and comfortable seating combined with the traditional honeycomb stone which is visible in the arches on the sides of the auditorium create a unique, warm and pleasing ambience.
World famous orchestras, operas, ballets and theatrical performances have been produced on the magnificent stage of the Republic Hall.
