Description

Malta will once again be welcoming the world-renowned violinist Uto Ughi with the "Filarmonici di Roma"  in a grand concert under the distinguished patronage of The President of Malta, featuring a repertoire of popular classical works by Haydn, Mozart and Paganin.

The eminent maestro Uto Ughi belongs to a legacy which in Italy has given birth to one of the greatest traditions of violin virtuosos in the world. Since his infancy, Uto Ughi has shown incredible talent having debuted at just seven years of age with Bach's Partita and the Capricci by Paganini, when critics already acclaimed him as a "concert artist who is technically mature".  Uto Ughi studied under the guidance of Giorgiou Enescu, the same master who artistically produced the great Yehudi Menuhim. He has performed in the most prominent cultural venues with a myriad of symphony orchestras of international repute in all the capitals of Europe and beyond.  Uto Ughi's activity has evolved to embrace the value of culture in its expansive sense - he has founded international music festivals in Venice and Rome with the aim of funding the restoration of historic monuments and the safeguarding of cultural heritage, as well as the formation of young musicians. Uto Ughi's prolific recording experience is one of the most intense in his field, he records with the foremost BMG Ricordi, and has published with the renowned Einaudi.  Indeed, Uto Ughi plays an invaluable Guarnieri del Gesu' dating back to 1744 as well as a Stradivarius "Kreutzer", so called because it belonged to none other than Ludwig Van Beethoven, to whom the latter dedicated his famous sonata.

All proceeds from this auspicious cultural event will go towards the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
